The Busan International Film Festival capped its landmark 30th edition Friday night with a closing ceremony at the Busan Cinema Center. Chinese screen star-turned-first-time filmmaker Shu Qi took home the best director honors for Girl, a coming-of-age story about a teenager dreaming of escape from an abusive home life in 1980s Taipei, Taiwan.

《女孩》以1988年的基隆港为故事背景，讲述少女林小丽的成长故事，虽然她的身边有常拿她出气的母亲和酗酒家暴的父亲，但她还是憧憬着更明媚的未来。影片的主人公小丽由新人白小樱出演，歌手出身的9m88（原名汤毓绮）饰演母亲，邱泽出演父亲。

Girl centers on taciturn teenager Lin Xiaoli, played by Bai Xiaoying, who cares for her younger sister while navigating a home dominated by poverty, alcoholism and violence. Her mother, played by singer 9m88, is mercurial and resentful, while her father, embodied by Roy Chiu, returns drunk each night — unpredictable, menacing, explosive.

舒淇既是该片导演也是编剧。早先在威尼斯出席首映时，她曾表示当导演压力很大，“这是我的第一部导演作品，也是我第一次作为导演来跟大家见面，我很怕自己没能把工作做好”，“还有就是我拍这部电影的初衷是想反映那个时代的女性相较过去已经变得自由、奔放了，她们不需要再依附于父权之下或是家庭之下。她们已经变得独立，也有能力让自己过得更好。”

At the film's Venice premiere, Shu said it was her first time directing and admitted she felt pressure in the role. She explained that her aim was to show how women of that era had become more independent and free-spirited, no longer confined by patriarchy or family ties.

舒淇，1976年4月16日出生于中国台湾省新北市新店区，中国香港女演员、模特、歌手、导演。
